Well here we are, in the only coffee shop that we haven’t yet tried in the beautiful village of Tobermory.
From here we’ll be paddling round the western most point of mainland Britain. The evocative sounding Ardnamurchan point. Unfortunately it is living up to it’s reputation and blowing a F7 at the moment so we’re spending a second day eating cake and chatting to the friendly locals.
Apparently the children’s BBC show
Balamory is filmed here. For those that don’t know, it is a 20 minute story with fluffy/hairy characters interacting with strangely dressed humans doing daft things and who are clearly not embarrassed to look a little different from the norm.
Can’t imagine what that must be like. Ahem….
So funny! More please, x
I love the beards boys they’re looking pretty authentic now. Really suit u too! Sas and Ollie have written to blue Peter about your adventure but maybe they should write in to balamory too! All our love j c s o m xxxx
Good to meet you guys at lunch yesterday in Tobermory. Did you make it round the point today in the forecast F4 window? ( If so, I guess pretty choppy). If not, look out for, and say Hi to friends of ours arriving by open Cobra RIBs about now – Johnny (in wheelchair), David and others. I look forward to hearing if you make it to Muck. By the way, in case you need it, there is a campsite and bunkhouse over on Ardnamurchan at Kilchoan (most westerly campsite on UK mainland no less!)
Another suggested stop for you over on the East Coast, I guess you’ll be there by early next week!…is Lybster (12 miles south of Wick)….a wonderful little harbour and the village a short walk at top of hill. Cheers. Derek
Me again……another place on West Scotland we should have mentioned as good stopping and/ or provisioning point is Gairloch ( due East of north tip of Skye). There is a caravan park / camping site “Sands” on the headland just inside Longa Island, and bang on your route which has a decent shop open 8.30am – 8pm. Derek
Brilliant thanks Derek! Andy and Geoff
Hi guys, I don’t know if you’ll get this in time to meet up but we’re paddling around Britain the other way and we’ve just landed in Tobermory too. Want to meet up for a drink?
