Good news, forecast looks ok for crossing over to Wales tomorrow. 22 miles from Ilfracombe to Port Eynon. We’ll split the tide evenly. We set off at 8am, three and a half hours before high water so we’ll be taken east for the first half but then as the tide ebbs we’ll be heading west again. Our only challenge is to keep on a 350 degree bearing and hope the pain of sitting in a kayak for 7 hours doesn’t get too much!
Will post an update tomorrow night if we have a signal.
Night all
Andy, Geoff, Mike
Good luck boys tomorrow. You’ll crack it no problem. And don’t forget the sunblock and I heard somewhere that wee on blisters works or am I getting confused with boots?
Good luck guys, 7 hours is along time to be in a Kayak…….keep the legs moving and humour high !

Well done salty sea dogs!!! an amazing paddle today!!! fantstic to watch your progress. Mallards Pike is going to be a breeze?!!
Aunty Aud has spent all day gazing out at Wembury Bay hoping for a sight of her wee son – during which she has consumed large jacket potato with prawns and a huge side order of chips, a mountain of ice cream washed down by couple of stubbies.. Didn’t have the heart to tell her you are on other coast. lol!! Now she is on G&Ts and sunning herself whilst waiting for her roast dinner to be cooked!!! Certainly makes herself at home!! Maybe see you in Plymouth?? Fay x
I guess we all collectively held our breath for 8 hours while we watched the blue balloon bob across the void. Yee Hah!!! Well done chaps – onwards and upwards!
